BASARAJANI at Jakarta Fashion Week 2010/2011 RECAP

After finished the Debut Collection in June 2010, BASARAJANI launched La Première Collection with the theme of 'A Tale From Ancient Java' at Jakarta Fashion Week in November 9th, 2010 with 11 other talented young alumnis of ESMOD.

Febrina Siahaan is inspired by the love story of Rama and Shinta and she's still exploring the beauty of Java Island through 'A Tale From Ancient Java'. There were handpaintings of Rama and Shinta on cracking fabrics, a lot of ruffles, draperies and even more lace in blue, green and grey to pictures the seas, mountains and fields in Java. Tailoring is as it was imaginative, but most of the looks in this collection ready for real life.

Jakarta Fashion Week this year 2010/2011 with theme : Styling Modernity and enlivened by 113 Indonesian designers. Why was this theme chosen? "Because of Jakarta Fashion Week is actually intended as a forum which can facilitate a dialogue between fashion riches of the archipelago, including the diversity of traditional textile and modern creations," said Baslir Djamal, JFW Executive Chairman 2010/2011.

According Baslir, fashion is not the only one-sided monologue from the designer, but involves a lot of dialogue, which includes the relationship between the designer with the craftsmen, buyers, fashion lovers and fashion journalists. Here the Indonesian designers will draw inspiration from the design legacy of the country that are ready to color the world fashion stage with recent work.

Started the debut collection by several travels to Jogjakarta. We used a lot of grey, green and blue to pictures the temples, field, mountain and seas. And this collection tells about the love story of Rama and Shinta through the hand painted dresses. We Design and produce our collection limitedly due to it’s segmented market.
